Sarah’s 17th Birthday

So 2 days late and $2.16 short (that interest will kill you!) big brother here has failed to complete the idea he had. This idea was “Oh, wouldn’t it be great if I blogged the pictures of my sister on her birthday to celebrate?”

Although I wasn’t able to be with my sister Sarah on her birthday, I thankfully was able to celebrate with her the weekend prior! She had informed me that she really wanted some “cute, new pictures of her” so what better time to do them than her birthday. We took all these while shopping in Gruene, Texas with the whole family. It’s really been amazing to see how she’s grown and developed into such an awesome, cool, sweet, gorgeous young lady. If you couldn’t tell, I’m quite proud of her!

State Fair of Texas

Today officially marks the end of the State Fair of Texas… So to celebrate the last day, I thought I’d post some pictures from my two trips this year. It is huge and very easy to spend 8 hours wandering around the grounds. Those few hours could potentially be the most expensive of the year… while admission is only $15, parking is also $15, and the main attraction (the food) seems like its almost $15 per item! But looking past the price of food and games, it really is a ton of fun. There is something for everybody there; games, shopping, car show, petting zoo (includes zebras, a giraffe, and more crazy animals), dozens of shows that showcase horses, BMX bikes, diving, live music and much more. Plus of course you can’t forget all the football games! The Cotton Bowl Stadium is the spine of the whole fair grounds and hosts several large games during the fair, the largest being the Red River Rivalry OU vs Texas. Going to the State Fair of Texas had been on my bucket list ever since I saw the OU vs Texas game on TV as a kid. Definitely worth going to if you ever get the chance!

To start it off, here is my girlfriend Emily and I scarfing down one AMAZING smoked turkey leg. Besides the cotton candy… it was the first food we had there. :p

I’m too lazy to comment individually on the rest. They seem pretty self explanatory to me… icon wink State Fair of Texas

Ok wait… I’ve gota tell ya’ll about this light show thingy. See the big screen? It is 9 sided ( i think) and plays cool graphics, while there is a fountain on one side and fire on the other! Plus various fire work launching spots, one from”inside” the screen, but then at least 4 scattered behind the audience! It was really spectacular.fair3 State Fair of Texas

DBU Marketing

One thing that I’ve decided to do is include more personal posts here on the blog. It’s kind of scary to open up your life online, and besides that there’s a pressure to try and sound “business professional” so people take you seriously. I’m really realizing though, that it is more important to just be myself!

Last year I was attending Baylor University as a Mechanical Engineering major. The idea of solving problems seemed like a really cool thing, however once I started learning it, I realized my passion for it just wasn’t there. I couldn’t live without photography. I knew I never wanted to stop doing this, but the idea of being a “rich engineer” seemed very attractive… When I finally concluded that I’d rather do what I love for the rest of my life than guarantee financial success, I must say it was a rather scary decision! I also decided that Baylor was a little too big for me and transferred up to Dallas Baptist University. All the changes have proven to be a wonderful blessing. I feel like I’m fulfilling my calling, doing what I love and succeeding! icon smile DBU Marketing

I’ve started shooting for the Marketing Department here at DBU and I must say, it has been a ton of fun! Here are some of my favorite shots from the first few weeks of school.

Retro Roller Skating and a giant slide for Rush Week. I was actually on skates myself for these shots, looking back that might not have been the smartest thing to do with that much camera gear! 1 DBU Marketing

No University experience would be complete with sports! I’ve discovered that volleyball is incredibly difficult to shoot! Have to try and predict every move, just so you know where to point the camera.

So, as you can see I’ve been doing a ton of shooting for DBU and I’ve loved every minute so far! It is a great opportunity to shoot in some unique, challenging situations. I’ll be sure to post up a few of my favorites every now and then. icon smile DBU Marketing
